Almost 30 years later, Angels Flight returned with its original orange-and-black wooden cable cars hauling travelers up a 298-foot incline from Hill Street to the fountain-filled Watercourt at California Plaza. Tickets are $1 each way, but you can buy a souvenir round-trip ticket for $2 if you want something to take home with you. Please note that reservations for parties of 7+ need to be made at least 48 hours in advance. No reservations for parties of 7+ are available on Holidays or weekends but we do save many tables for walk-in guests. Please note we only take reservations up to 6 guests per table using the reservation button above.

Griffith Park

It all began in the 1950s when Norton Simon (Hunt-Wesson Foods, McCalls Corporation, and Canada Dry) started collecting works by Degas, Renoir, Gauguin, and Cézanne. His collection grew to include works by old masters and impressionists, modern works from Europe, and Indian and Southeast Asian art. Today the museum is richest in works by Rembrandt, Picasso, and, most of all, Degas.

Congress appropriated the requested amount on March 4, 1911, and by July 1912, the structural steel framework, provided by Llewellyn Iron Works of Los Angeles, was ready for erection on the forty-foot-square pierhead. The lighthouse was built around twelve steel columns and sits at the end of the 9,250-foot San Pedro breakwater. The base of the structure is octagonal and covered with steel plates, while the upper section is cylindrical and built using cement plaster on metal lath. Champion Iron Works of Canton, Ohio provided the helical-bar lantern room and cast-iron parapet for the tower.

In addition to the bread, the restaurant also offers a variety of appetizers and entrees, all of which are expertly prepared using the freshest and highest quality ingredients. On October 11, 1923, Head Keeper Frank Weller was working on Los Angeles Harbor Light No. 6 with his launch tied fast to it, when the steamer Coalinga collided with the beacon and lunch, forcing the keeper to swim for shore. The Union Oil Company of California, the owner of the steamer, reimbursed Keeper Weller $46 to cover his loss. In 1922, Keeper Weller, then the station’s first assistant keeper, was commend for rescuing two sails from the USS California whose motor launch wrecked on the breakwater.

Best Seafood Restaurant in San Francisco

There is a famous large farmer’s market at the San Francisco ferry building every Saturday morning that we highly recommend while enjoying the local fruits, vegetables, pastries, and the waterfront as well. Another good option is to look for community-supported fisheries that allow you to sign up for a subscription service to have local fresh fish delivered to your door. Perhaps the most exciting option is to buy fish straight off the boat like the San Francisco pier restaurants do. In Fisherman’s Wharf, you can buy live crabs right out of the tank as well as shrimp, scallops, and lobster tails. For those who are trying to choose which of the best seafood restaurants in San Francisco in which to dine – here are a few things that set the best restaurants apart from other seafood restaurants in San Francisco. Being on the coast, there are certain seasons for seafood San Francisco is famous for having certain types of seafood by season.

Fresh Fish & Seafood

We are proud to maintain our high standards of serving the best seafood in San Francisco while also upholding our pledge to serve sustainable seafood. The restaurant is family-owned and operated by the Simmons family, who are deeply committed to preserving the natural beauty and resources of the San Francisco Bay. Not wanting everyone aboard the cruise ships and other vessels that sail into the harbor to be welcomed by a “rust bucket of a lighthouse,” the Cabrillo Beach Booster Club launched a project to restore the tower.

For those seeking a quintessential Los Angeles experience, a concert on a summer night at the Bowl, the city's iconic outdoor venue, is unsurpassed. The L.A. Philharmonic plays here from June to September; its performances and other events draw large crowds. Parking is limited near the venue, but there are additional remote parking locations serviced by shuttles.

The world-famous Studio Tour takes you around the Universal backlot, home to working soundstages and exterior sets where many popular movies and shows have been filmed. During the tram tour, you'll witness King Kong save you from massive predators, see the airplane wreckage from War of the Worlds, ride along with the cast of the Fast and the Furious, and have a close call with Norman Bates from Psycho. As seen in the New Year's Day Tournament of Roses Parade, this low-profile brown building is one of the finest midsize museums anywhere, with a collection that spans more than 2,000 years of Western and Asian art.

El Pueblo de Los Angeles

A centennial celebration was held on October 27, 2013, during which 242 guests were taken out for a close-up view of the restored lighthouse. As the community and “light noise” on the hills behind the lighthouse grew, a green translucent cover was placed over the lens in 1932 to change the characteristic from flashing white to flashing green. The old deep-throated two-tone fog horn, affectionately known to locals as “Moaning Maggie,” was replaced by a higher-pitched single-tone horn in 1959. The new horn, nicknamed “Blatting Betty,” was disliked by local mariners for years. The last major change for the lighthouse came January 1, 1973, when the lighthouse was automated.

If you have a party of 7+ guests please visit Group Reservations above to submit an inquiry. Geared more toward adults, CityWalk is a separate venue run by Universal Studios, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, nightclubs, and movie theaters. The tram ride is usually the best place to begin your visit, because the lines become longer as the day goes on. You can be part of the audience for live TV tapings (tickets are free), but you must book ahead. Use caution if driving up to the sign on residential streets; many cars speed around the blind corners.

Bronson Canyon (where the Batcave from the 1960s Batman TV series is located) and Crystal Springs are favorite picnic spots. For a fantastic view, come at sunset to watch the sky turn fiery shades of red with the city's skyline silhouetted. The turn-of-the-20th-century funicular, dubbed "the shortest railway in the world," operated between 1901 and 1969, when it was dismantled to make room for an urban renewal project.

Click here to watch how Fog Harbor’s 100% sustainable seafood goes from the ocean to your plate. The best seafood in San Francisco can be found at restaurants that receive fresh fish deliveries daily and cut that whole fish into portions before cooking them masterfully and serving them soon thereafter right to your table. Many of these eaters can be found in the PIER 39 restaurants as they are right on the water and know their guests value local fresh seafood.

If you want a great dining experience in the heart of the San Francisco Bay, look no further than Fog Harbor Fish House at Pier 39! What better way to enjoy the best seafood in San Francisco than to enjoy it while overlooking San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks – the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz? To accomplish this enticing activity, we recommend the Fisherman’s Wharf San Francisco restaurants serving fresh seafood while overlooking the San Francisco Bay. There are many PIER 39 restaurants as well as restaurants near PIER 39 that give you the complete experience. There is no damage to this building as far as I can see, though it received an awful shaking.

Whether you’re looking for suggestions on the best dishes to try or assistance with the wine list, the staff at Fog Harbor is always available to help. And with their warm and welcoming personalities, they’ll make you feel right at home from the moment you step through the door. The menu at Fog Harbor Fish House is constantly evolving, as the kitchen staff is always experimenting with new recipes and techniques.

The twelve columns, covered with pilasters, give the lighthouse a Romanesque feel. Edward L. Woodruff, assistant superintendent of the eighteenth lighthouse district, designed the lighthouse and later received a Phebe Hobson Fowler Architectural Award for his work. With an enormous rose on its exterior, this 90,000-plus-seat stadium is home to the UCLA Bruins and the annual Rose Bowl Game on New Year’s Day, and also regularly sees performances from the biggest recording artists in the world. Set at the bottom of a wide arroyo in Brookside Park, the facility is closed except during games, concerts, and special events like its famed Flea Market, a Southern California institution. Food and drink options are on hand to keep shoppers satiated, parking is free, and general admission is just $9, but VIP/early-bird options are available for a little extra. Bring cash to avoid an inevitable line at the ATM, and feel free to try your hand at haggling.

Inside, the museum has seven floors of exhibition space that delves into the history of cinema with interactive exhibits, features on award-winning storytellers, multiple theaters, and immersive experiences. Dedicated to the art and science of movies, the Academy Museum is the premier center that is a must-stop for film buffs and casual moviegoers alike. Just remember to use our tips of searching for restaurants that offer local seafood that is seasonal, delivered fresh daily, and mentions or shows photos of the iconic Bay views. In fact, we were the first of Fisherman’s Wharf restaurants to serve 100% sustainable seafood back in 2012. We care about our oceans and we want to do our part to serve seafood that we can feel good about to help the ocean thrive, prosper, and continue to grow.
