MSC Cruise Line is a global cruise line headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and based in Naples, Italy. It is the world's third-largest cruise line and Europe's largest.
MSC stands for Mediterranean Shipping Company. The company was founded in 1970 by Gianluigi Aponte, a shipping magnate from Naples. MSC initially operated cargo ships, but it expanded into the cruise business in 1987 with the purchase of its first cruise ship, the MSC Rhapsody.
